Throughout my weeks of testing, I only encountered one small downside of using the Anker 735 as my primary charger. Its maximum capacity is available through its USB-C port when you use it on its own, but when you put multiple connectors to work, the 65-watt becomes unevenly distributed, leading to slower charging speeds for big-screen electronic devices like laptops and tablets. Chargers today are getting smaller yet more powerful. This is thanks to an advanced material called gallium nitride — commonly referred to as GaN in the consumer tech world — which brings high-wattage performance without excessive heat.

The 3 USB-A ports share 20W. It is not recommended to charge 3 high-powered devices (phones/tablets) simultaneously as doing so could trigger the device's overload protection. However, I was a bit disappointed that Anker didn't include a carrying pouch with this charger, especially given its compact nature. It would have been a convenient addition for on-the-go use. When you connect 3 devices, the top USB-C port can output 40W, the second USB-C port can output 12W, and the USB-A port can also output 12W. That gives you the power you need to charge your notebook, your tablet, and your phone all at the same time.
