Merser Double Barrel brings together the finest Caribbean rums aged up to twelve years, before they are blended and rested for six months in London. The bottle represents more than meets the eye too, with the dimpled bottle representing the River Thames on which rum was transported, while the hound and post logo is a little nod to the days when most Londoners couldn't read, and would follow symbols to find their way to merchant houses.

Award-winning Merser Double Barrel Rum captures the best rums of the Caribbean, from Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica aged up to 12 years, which is then blended in the heart of London and left to “marry” in barrels for a further 6 months. After the rums are blended at the blending house they are then left to age for a further 6 months in 250 litres ex-Scotch casks, hence the Double Barrel moniker on the bottle. Palate Creamy and elegant, with stone fruit to the fore and the Jamaican funk present but very much in the background. In keeping with traditions established by the London brewing houses of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, there is no sugar or coloring added to rum aged in oak barrels. Merser Double Barrel is a delicious artisanal blended rum that will offer you a wonderful elegant taste with notes of chocolate, vanilla, fruit and spices.During the 18th and 19th century, London was full of blending houses that were sourcing the rums from the Caribbean via ships that were coming down the Thames River. Merser Signature is a genuine and beautifully balanced smooth Golden Rum with hints of tropical fruits as well as butterscotch and an oaky sweetness. In keeping with the traditions set by London's merchant blending houses of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, there's no sugar or colouring to be seen here, just good old fashioned rum rested in oak. In London, we expertly blend these rums together and finish them in wooden barrels for 6 weeks in batches of just 400 bottles. According to James Hayman, his family was involved in the rum trade and blending over 100 years ago.
